Who We Are

Our People

Meet our team of group benefits and pension experts. At MacLellan & Moffatt Group Consultants (MMGC), our experienced staff will take the time to understand your business’ unique needs and provide the support and tools you’ll need to manage your new plan.

Mark Denholm, BA, Hons

Benefits Consultant, Partner

Since MMGC’s inception, Mark has been instrumental in our passion for helping Atlantic Canadian businesses design benefit and pension solutions that truly make a difference for their employees.

Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Mark earned his Honours Degree in Financial Services (…he’s not too bad of a golfer) gaining valuable experience through internships with Scottish Equitable and Standard Life. That early foundation set the stage for a career built on expertise, trust, and a genuine desire to create long-term value for his clients.

As an Employee Benefit Specialist and Partner at MMGC, Mark brings both knowledge and insight to every client relationship. He sits on advisory councils with major insurance carriers, ensuring his advice is always informed, balanced, and objective.

When he’s not helping clients plan for the future, you’ll find Mark at home in Truro with his wife Meghan and their two boys, Rory and Finley — likely cheering them on at the ski hill, baseball diamond or enjoying a round of golf.

Patty brings over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry to MacLellan & Moffatt Group Consultants (MMGC). Before joining MMGC in 2013, she spent five years with a major national insurance company and 15 years with a regional independent benefits consulting firm.

Patty grew up on the beautiful South Shore in Milton, Nova Scotia where family traditions and community were the core of her daily life. It was a proud moment for her when MMGC invited her to be a Partner in 2017 and even prouder because we are a family locally owned and operated business. “Our values, care for clients and our community run deep.”

With an emphasis on client service, Patty is dedicated to adding value to clients by establishing long-lasting relationships and working as a team with clients to make sure they fully understand their benefits offering and pricing at renewal.

Outside of the office, Patty lives in Seabright, Nova Scotia with her partner Jeff and her feline son Tommy Hunter. Patty enjoys the beauty of the outdoors, the ocean and has recently started Yoga which she thoroughly enjoys.  Patty plays an active role in her community as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters. In the past 25 years, she has been an In-School Mentor, Big Sister, past Co-Chair of Bowls for Kids and currently Co-Chairs Golf for Kids.

Angela Smith, BBA

Senior Benefits Coordinator

Angela has been with the MacLellan & Moffatt Group of Companies, in various positions, for more than 25 years! Angela obtained her BBA from MSVU in the late 90’s and immediately after started her career in Truro. She furthered her education by becoming both life and mutual fund licensed and for many years, provided a high level of support to the investment and insurance arm of MMFI.

Her transition into the group consulting side of the business occurred in 2012 when she began assisting with the client reporting, renewal preparation, new contracting and has grown now to include a block of business of her own. Angela also dabbled into the health and travel insurance sales sector for MMHI for a few years as well. Her experience, dedication and work ethic make her an important part of the MMGC Team.

Alongside her husband Anthony, and adding to her accomplishments over the years, they birthed and raised a family of 3 boys, helping them to grow into the young men they are very proud of. She and Anthony will always have their “fur-babies” to adore, and they now look forward to the day that comes when they can become grandparents.

Angela has a strong sense of community and continues to volunteer and offer help where she can.   Her hobbies include card making and scrapbooking to help highlight and preserve precious family memories and milestones.
